What to Bring to Your Notary Appointment in Las Vegas

If you've never used a notary public before, walking into your first appointment can feel a little intimidating. The good news is that a notarization is usually fast, often under ten minutes, as long as you arrive prepared.

As a Nevada Notary Public serving Las Vegas, Summerlin, and Henderson, I see the same small mistakes turn quick appointments into return trips. This guide walks through everything you need to bring so we can notarize your documents on the first visit.

Need to notarize today? Call (702) 714-0010 or book a mobile notary in Las Vegas. We come to your home, office, hospital, or coffee shop across the valley.

1. A Valid, Government-Issued Photo ID

Identification is the foundation of every notarization. Nevada law requires the notary to personally verify the identity of every signer, which means you must bring an unexpired, government-issued ID with your photo, signature, and physical description.

Acceptable forms typically include:

• A current Nevada driver's license or state ID

• A U.S. passport or passport card

• A military ID

• A permanent resident card (green card) or foreign passport

Expired IDs, work badges, and student IDs are not enough on their own. If your ID is expired or you don't have one, ask about credible witness options before your appointment.

2. The Complete, Unsigned Document

Bring the full document; every page, not just the signature page. Notaries cannot notarize a blank or incomplete document, and we'll need to see the entire document to confirm nothing is missing.

Just as important: do not sign the document beforehand. Most notarizations require you to sign in the notary's presence. If you've already signed, we may have to ask you to re-execute the document.

3. Anyone Else Who Needs to Sign

If the document requires multiple signatures, such as a spouse on a deed, a co-borrower on a loan signing, or a co-owner on a title, every signer must be physically present with their own valid ID. We cannot notarize a signature for someone who isn't there, even if they've given verbal permission.

For Remote Online Notarization (RON), all signers must be on the video call together with their IDs ready.

4. Witnesses (Only If Your Document Requires Them)

Some documents, such as certain wills, trusts, and real estate forms, require one or two impartial witnesses in addition to the notary. Read your document carefully or ask the receiving party (your bank, title company, or attorney) whether witnesses are needed.

If you need witnesses and can't bring your own, let us know in advance. A mobile notary in Summerlin can often arrange witnesses for an additional fee.

5. Payment and a Quiet Place to Sign

Nevada caps standard notary fees by statute, with additional travel fees allowed for mobile notary appointments. We accept cash, card, and most digital payments, so just ask when you book.

If we're meeting at your location, pick a well-lit spot with a flat surface and minimal distractions. Hospitals, offices, and even Starbucks all work great as long as we can verify your ID clearly.

Quick Pre-Appointment Checklist

Before you head out the door, or before we head to you, double-check that you have:

• Valid, unexpired government photo ID

• The complete, unsigned document

• All other required signers (with their own IDs)

• Any required witnesses

• Payment ready
